From the live recording of "Walking Through Heaven's Gate", featuring Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews on trumpet. This song was an important anthem of the civil rights movement. The CD will be released on Martin Luther King Day, 1/19/09, with a CD release party @ Tipitina's that night.

  • The lyrics may have been written by Garfield Haywood, but the tune -- the song -- is much older. It's Red River Valley!

  • they put this same song on the movie "Ray" (the funeral scene) and love the song but the way they song it on the movie was old school and since I heard that version that's the only one I like. Good Post!

  • That was absolutely beautiful. Thank you for blessing us.

  • This song was written by a great preacher back in the early 1900's.

Garlfield Haywood, he founded the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World.

Powerful Song! They just don't write songs like they use too.
