In this review, I take a look at the sequel to Epic's smash hit Unreal Tournament 2004. How does it stack up?

ESRB Rating: Mature (17+) - Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language

All settings maxed at 1024x768 resolution.

Minimum System Requirements: * Supported OS: Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista * Processor: 2.0+ GHZ Single Core Processor * Memory: 512 MB RAM * Graphics: NVIDIA 6200+ or ATI Radeon 9600+ Video Card * Sound: Windows Supported Sound Card * DirectX: DirectX 9.0c * Hard Disk Space: 8 GB

Here's the link to the demo: http://www.fileplanet.com/181421/180000/fileinfo/Unreal-Tournament-3-Beta-Demo

It's available for purchase from Steam here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/13210/

To clarify my review scores (they're "rough" scores, meaning it's not supposed to be some sort of percentage or anything):
1 or lower = Terrible. Avoid at all costs.
1.5 = Has a few redeeming qualities, but still sucks and should be avoided.
2 = Mediocre (Sub-par). You'll probably want to avoid this one.
2.5 = Underwhelming, but playable.
3 = Average. Worth playing, but probably not at full price.
3.5 = Good, but has issues.
4 = Excellent, but has a few problems that could probably be fixed through patching.
4.5 = Exceptional. Better than 4 but still has a few problems that could be ironed out.
5 = Outstanding. Stuff in this category is pretty much "must own."

  • Custom maps are the best on here.

  • I dunno. I actually kinda like the basic UT3 maps.

  • ut99 and ut2k3 are way better

  • 99 and 2k4, yes. 2k3's about the same, really.

  • TO MUCH "you know","you know","you know","you know","you know", SHUT UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!

  • My HP G60 notebook PC can run this fairly well (albeit with lower graphical quality and an imperfect frame rate)

  • When I try to play Multiplayer on 2K4, my own firewall blocks it. I hold the game dear to my heart because I've been playing it since I was, I dunno, 9? Like, it was a momentous occasion when my best friend got it and then suddenly we could play 2K3 but with like 3 times as many maps, and vehicles! I remember jealously sulking home to my 2K4 demo and flying around Torlan in a raptor. My only option now is UT3 for MP, which is not such a bad thing, but I miss 2K4 :'(
