The AST Model 616-A festoon provides constant tension accumulation for high speed web processing systems requiring stop actions such as splicing. Web tension is controlled via a precision pneumatic regulator and air cylinder. Accumulation level is continuously monitored by a laser rangefinder. Idler rolls are made from carbon fiber to reduce carriage weight and roll inertia minimizing web shock. The unit is cantilever mounted, simple and compact making it easy to integrate into new or existing systems.
