Most of the band members died in the fire when spanish moss decorating the dancehall, which had been sprayed with bug killer, ignited from a cigarette and spread from the gasoline like substance. The hall owner had nailed all the windows shut so people wouldn't get in without paying admission. I moved to Natchez in Summer of 1964 and got me a job on the radio on WNAT just to get closer to this tune. Now here it comes again. The big circle.

@mjakcougarOn April 20,1943 there was a big dance here in Natchez.. It was held at the Rhythm Night Club. The band was very famous for that time. The black citizens who could afford tickets dressed in their finest went.The owner decorated with spanish moss,xmas lights and sprayed with mosquito spray. He nailed the rear exit and windows. somehow a fire started and over 200 people died.
