@jackiechampion They were honoring Chuck Berry because he like Little Richard and alot of British Artists were very much influenced by American R & B. Also, think about it, this was probably the first time that the "Originator" and The "Cover" Version Act appeared on the show at the same time. Also, for John Lennon and Keith Richards, and Eric Clapton to perform with him was a thrill and a half.
