Why would u use windows anymore after seeing this... I'm a noob to Ubuntu.. For a month now.. But I love it.. But for some programs I'll still use windows and this is how !

Download VirtualBox from : virtualbox.org

Note: You don't need to own a windows cd or even burn one!
You can download an iso from somewhere on the net like I did... and mount the iso file to virtualbox.. Yes ! it lets you also do that.. Virtual box is a great software...

  • Yea i have the software, I was trying to use my exisitng windows partition. I found an article by virtualbox how to migrate exisiting windows partition, I though maybe you did it that way. I'm trying to figure out how to migrate my already exisitng windows partition so I dont have to redo everything. thanks though

  • @circadiesproject No u can't do that.... just dual boot if u want... The Ubuntu Bootloader (Grub) should take take care of everything.... and u can choose Ubuntu or windows partition at the begging... U can also view your NTFS (windows) partition from Ubuntu if u dual boot... but u can't view the Ubuntu partition from windows tho... I think some software let u...

  • Did you use an existing windows partition? Or was that a fresh virtual drive install?

  • @circadiesproject It creates a .Vdi image file... inside your home folder>virtualbox folder This .vdi file holds your virtual windows partition made from virtualbox..... I used fixed size partition.. like u can erase this file when u want....

  • what does this program do exactly? lets say if i wanna install a windows software on ubuntu, do i still use wine or can i just use this program? is it like a dual boot?
