This is a video depicting the before and after pictures of my underbite surgery. I had a protruding mandible (lower jaw) and a deficient maxilla (upper jaw) which contributed to my openbite so the surgery was done to push my lower jaw back and to pull my upper jaw forward. After the surgery, I was on a liquid diet for almost 3-4 weeks after which I started eating really soft food. I have titanium plates on my lower jaw and implants on my upper jaw.

  • i have the same problem. I hope to get my

    surgery in 8 months.

  • @r2cristi Good Luck

  • What you have is and underjet not a underbite. 2 completely different things. It's called a class III prognatism. If you had surgery it was most likely skeletal. All of this could have been avoided if you had the proper treatment of orthodontics at an early age, and by an early age i mean 7.

  • @MJCastellanos Yup, I agree. Whats an underbite then ?

  • Hey how much did the whole thing run u?? I'm planning to get mine done too....

  • @darthalias In overjet the Upper teeth are in front of the lower front teeth considerably. But yeah your have a underjet AND a underbite (openbite)

  • @darthalias Meh... I wasn't looking at the whole picture. I apologize. Underbite (Openbite) and Overbite is in relation to the vertical axis. Your Upper Maxillary teeth in an Overbite can cover completely your Lower Mandibular teeth. In an Underbite or an overbite there can be no relation at all a hole in the middle.

Underjet a Overjet relate to a horizontal from a profile point of view. Underjet - Mandble is sticking out either cause the mandible grew too much or the maxillary didnt grow.

  • @mahestar too bad i am in dallas

  • @mahestar In Dallas, it cost about 60,000 dollars. It helps if you have a good insurance plan to get it covered.

  • please tell me i might need this surgery
