Definitely a very underrated actor...He gave LIS a badly needed comedic twist. Also he's one of the few Americans who is able to carry himself in a "European" style without it being obviously contrived. He was a very cool cat. Jonathan Harris is missed.

Gotta say, longevity issues aside, I like Smith better as he was originally played; sinister, conniving, devoid of compassion. I know you can't have a long-running character cooped up on a spaceship with 6 other people he wants to kill, but the first few episodes with Harris playing him that way were memorable. I love the robot in the beginning too; a hulking, mindless machine, under the control of the evil smith; great stuff!

I hated Doctor Smith. I couldn't stand him! Such a perfect antagonist. He really made the show happen.
