Yes it took quite a bit of "tweeking" the valve timing to get 4 uniform power strokes. Note also the big crankshaft balance weights arranged so the engine has no tendency to stop in any particular position.
Thanks. It does work just as well with the cleaner blowing so you technically you could use steam but at 100 degrees I doubt the lego would last very long.
What is the dimensions of your cylenders? boar and stroke.

The pistons are of course square, 6x6 studs, with a 7 brick stroke. With two double acting cylinders it gives a displacement of 560cc.
