When hedgehogs ANOINT.

My hedgehog Esme anoints with me very often. She especially loves the taste of my rings, or my shirts when I have perfume on.

What is anointing?: When a hedgehog smells something they find interesting they will lick or nibble on you, then foam at the mouth and lather the foam into their quills. That's called anointing. The reason why they do this isn't completely understood. Some think it's to put your smell on them, others think it's for self defense reasons. The foam they rub on them DOES sting if it gets into a cut, or if you get pricked by a quill it's on.
