From Monty Python's The Life of Brian. Great for getting discussion board sniping back on track.

That's a fitting analogy, but I think it's specifically referring to British socialist parties. The UK had a whole mess of socialist parties that all had the same goals but feuded with each other over tiny, pointless ideological differences.

Lmao what a perfect satire of the last 80 years of the far-left.

Could be a satire on all the various Irish paramilitary republican groups.

I think my favorite bit of political satire ever.

Ah far left political fragmentation. I'm a socialist and this is a big ass problem for us lefties.

Yeah, I think it applies to many groups in many places and times. My assumption about the British socialist groups was based on most of the Monty Python alums being involved in far-left politics at the time (except for John Cleese, who was a moderate liberal) and probably poking fun at their own ilk.

I just read GCLwins's comment. So yes, it seems it's quite timeless.

There were a bunch of revolutionary groups during the time when the Romans occupied that region. But all they did were fighting with each other.

Not saying you're wrong, but it's a pretty accurate depiction of what was going on then as well.

Obviously, from reading the comments, lots of people have interpreted this in different ways. I've always thought it was a satire of the animosity between Catholics and Protestants.

This is also good for libertarian and Ayn Rand groups!
