Payton Makenna Wright: In May of 2006, four year old Payton was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer called Medulloepithelioma. Throughout the year she underwent heavy doses of chemotherapy and radiation. She became paralyzed in August 2006 due to the tumor compressing her spine. Payton had to undergo several surgeries for shunt placement in her skull to release the pressure build up.
It was a long and difficult road for Payton and her family, but nothing could compare to when Payton passed away on May 29, 2007. She had just celebrated her 5th birthday.
We hope we can all work together to make a difference in the fight against pediatric cancer. As Payton had stated to her father at the beginning her illness "It's gonna be a good day". Those are words to live by.
