@Bukowskal For every black person this recording stands for the Civil Rights Struggle of the early 1960's....Because Whitney is a child of that revolution the song becomes a powerful reminder of how things have changed....Not necessarily all good but neceassary. When a black artist dies this song becomes the more important theme!

@sentfromupabove Well, I know her music very well and some elements of her biography... I did not say that "only" because it's W.H., I was thinking the same for MJ or Amy Winehouse for instance (and I think many people share my opinion). I just find it sad that there are many other people who died and for whom less honor is dedicated to.
Don't worry, I have lots of her songs on my iPod, even before she died :-) Peace!
Not to be insensitive, but how is this song appropriate at Whitney Houston's funeral? Maybe someone can enlighten me because it seems as that event, as tragic as it, doesn't really reflect anything this songs stands for.

African Americans sing with the heart and soul. Very spiritual and an amazing song hands down. Hopefully change will come and we can all enjoy peace and salvation together and live as one. Unity is power. RIP to all who tried to make a difference.
