Stefano Ghislotti investigates visual mnemonic devices in Nolan's puzzle-type Memento (I cut and edited the referred scenes together). He identifies these repeated shots as mnemonic devices: "the repetition of already seen details helps to create a connection between the related (...) sequences" (2009, 96). Here stylistic overlaps are visual repetitions, which are based on the effect of the rhyme as traditional mnemonic strategy.
