Scientology makes their "volunteers" sign 2 & 5 year contracts. If they leave before then all their work related training must be paid back to the cult. That is not how a volunteer gets treated.

Come now! I was working a usual 9-5 working day 5 days for $2 a week. I was considered a volunteer and I was not entitled to welfare payments because of those hours I was volunteering at the church. I went up to the Sea Org for training at my own expense and with no pay and I was studying from 9am to 10pm 6 1/2 days a week for 3 months. When I left, I got nothing but a freeloaders debt, sworn and screamed at because I couldn't even feed myself. THAT is being on staff.
