Medievalists, thank you for your prompt reply. I too think he meant to say "thanks", as that would fit the context of the conversation. Odd how it sounds so different from 'thanks' though! Perhaps in a follow up interview this can be addressed in further detail with him. Thanks again!

What does Guy Gavriel Kay say after the interviewers introduction. It sounds like:
INTERVIEWER: "...and he joins us today to talk about it."
GUY: (what sounds like) Phob (?)
Seriously, what is that noise that comes out of his mouth. I have checked the close-captioning and watched this video 74 times and can not figure it out. Any explanation would be greatly appreciated.
