English John helps rescue dogs in Oklahoma!

Wynona, OK -- Animal Recue Corps (ARC) is in Wynona, Oklahoma conducting the rescue of 21 dogs & puppies, 9 cats & kittens and 1 blind horse after a rescue worker's home and shelter was destroyed in a fire. This comes right on the heels of ARC's response to disasters in the area caused by the recent tornadoes.

Local Wynona rescuer, Fred White's home & shelter burned to the ground in a fire May 19, 2011. Tragically, seven dogs and two cats perished, and one is still in critical condition. ARC has taken custody of the 31 surviving animals and is transporting the dogs and cats to Animal Humane New Mexico in Albuquerque, NA and the horse to a rescue group in Guthrie, OK.

ARC was notified of White's circumstance by Anita Stepp, President of NeuterSooner located in Bartlesville, OK. White had reached out for spay and neuter assistance just days before the accident occurred.

"Fred White is a true friend to animals. Any community would benefit from a citizen with his level of compassion," says ARC President Scotlund Haisley. "This is precisely what ARC is set up for; working together with others to end animal suffering of any kind. We continue to be on the ground in Oklahoma and offer our services to those in need."

ARC was in Guthrie, OK yesterday to assist the Guthrie Animal Shelter after their facilities were destroyed in one of the tornadoes that ripped through the state on Tuesday, May 24. ARC transported15 dogs and 25 cats safely to the Kansas Humane Society in Wichita, KS and Foothills Animal Shelter in Golden, CO.
