Incidentally, they usually tell you to check the carotid first, b/c if there's not carotid pulse there isn't going to be any other pulses either.

That's what I was taught, by a doctor of medicine. In paramedic school, they teach you all the pulse pressures of all the different pulse points. It's long and involved, and I had a hard time remembering it until Dr. Cook explained it to us one night.

He was better at explaining it than the person who taught us.

@wasssuppp08 You have to pay harder attention to it, but you can feel it. You also have to press a little harder. If they're unconscious it's not going to bother them to press just a LITTLE harder.

@wasssuppp08 you can most definitely feel pulse through latex gloves...if they're tight enough, it's almost easier with them on than without
