I do agree but one thing that pisses me off about F4AF is that there are no subtitles available, I myself suffering from partial hearing impairement view this as a great con.. Whereas both OF and RV supports subtitles.. If you know of a way to add subtitles to AF please let me know.

OF 4.5 is damn good for open source. Plenty of patches to apply using the OF config editor that comes with it.

The only problems I have are with some TE's and they are developed separately. The campaign runs without a hitch, other than the occasional freeze (by occasional I mean it has happened to me once).

My official opinion: Stick with Allied Force. It's not as pretty as OF or FF, but it's worth it just for the guaranteed stability.

In OF, I get random CTDs at the end of a mission. It sucks pulling off a great sortie, only to get screwed over while exiting.

In RV, I get decreased performance in campaigns, and flashing textures on the aircraft model. They go away after 2 minutes or so, but it's all very distracting and discouraging.

AF has given me NO problems.

I just got RV in, and I agree, ish broken as heck... All I really care about in RV is the particle effects, anyway... On the old version its hard for me to tell when I hit my target...

When I installed Red Viper (AKA Free Falcon4) I installed it over both Allied Force and barebones Falcon 4.0 for testing, and it was fine but had a slight texture bug on occasion.

In my opinion, you should just install Open Falcon 4.5 over a clean install of Falcon 4.0. It is THE patch, so there is no need to do anything else. Just get the "one click installer" and you'll be ready to go in just a few minutes.

RV looked a little prettier, but it didn't seem as stable to me.

Thanks for the info. I decided to install OF over an original copy of F4, but kept my AF install and registry also.

I have to say I agree with what you say! I tried RV also, but found it to be glitchy so stuck with OF.
