i've got this phone.
it's great, doesn't feel plasticky or anything.
maybe it's slightly different with rogers? mine looks nicer for some reason.
my only criticism is that its a little bit slow when navigating and stuff.

i think they allow it without the data plan now

yeah, you could always do that, but in order to get the discounts, like for a 2 year contract etc., they require you to have the data plan for the length of your contract.
