This is the big match of the day, Kotooshu is a Ozeki which is the level below Asasyoryu who is a Yokozuna. In June '05 Kotooshu reached the level of Ozeki after a record 11 tournaments. Asasyoryu is currently dominating the scene with 22 tournament wins so far (note all the flags at the start which we believe is for his big tour wins), including the last few of this one in Tokyo. Apparently Kotooshu, who is Bulgarian, is the next big hope to challenge him. He's had injurys so far in his career that seem to have slowed him down a bit but he's currently 10 and 0 coming into this match to Asasyoryu's 9 and 1 record in the tournament. Once he wins this one, much to the crowds delight, he has an 11 and 0 record and sets Asayoryu to 9/2 and third place behind Hakho (the other Yokozuna) who's on 10/1. If Kotooshu beats Hakho tomorrow then he'll be in the driving seat to win his first big tournament and get closer to breaking into the ranks of Yokozuna.

A bit more haha. Also, the stack of envelopes Kotooshu gets at the end are his prize money for winning the bout. Another fun fact, the 4th flag to leave the ring (blue and white) is for a Bulgarian yogurt company that always sponsors Kotooshu's fights (Kotooshu is Bulgarian himself).
