@darling67 Brian carried the boys untill Pet Sounds, but after that Carl, Mike, Bruce and particuarly Dennis really emerged as brilliant songwriters. Sunflower, Pacific Ocean Blue, Surfs Up, Friends etc, were all real gems and Brian had little to do with them. That aside, In my opinion Brian Wilson contained as much talent as all the Byrds combined! Look at Pet Sounds, or Today or any of those singles. No single Byrd (or Beatle for that matter) could have made an album like that.
