It looks like a lot of people are forgetting that Gallagher does more than just smash things. This is how he ends his shows. His standup is amazing. He points out the stupidity of the world around him. Just like the majority of the good comics. He also does props. He also does performance art pieces. Like that giant couch behind him and the smashing bit. He is so great because he does so many things.

oh thats right i forgot that everyone under the age of 40 is a complete moron. the only smart people that can understand humor across many genres exist above that age. thanks for clearing that up.

I'm a college kid and I love me some internet may-may's and modern comedians, but I can't believe what I'm hearing here.

THIS isn't funny!?

COME ON! It's a silly-looking guy with a ridiculously large mallet and a mean swinging arm who talks like an auctioneer as he nonchalantly smashes stuff!

Actually, ignore all other details about Gallagher for a moment, his blatant baldness, his sweaty pits, everything. Focus on how brutally he smashes stuff! It's just glorious!

This was 'engagement' before most professions had even thought of the word. We now take it for granted that a speaker, teacher, politician and business person has to engage their audience. Old mate here might seem a bit passe now days but in his time this would have been amazing.
