KRON - CHANNEL 4 in SF. They were the NBC affiliate for over 50 years up to that point - 2002.

I always thought Terilyn Joe was a phony person even in the days she was on ABC7 in the 1990's when she removed Anna Chavez and the late Pete Wilson. Even though I am Asian I liked Anna Chavez as an anchor over Joe.

KNTV has come a long way since this time. They're now the west coast distant NBC affiliate on Dish Network for anyone who can get a waiver.

"NBC 3" likely refers to KNTV's cable dial position.

After digital conversion, it's over-the-air frequency is probably somewhere on UHF, but it will show up as "Channel 11.1" on over-the-air digital TV sets/converters in the Bay Area.

The station's transmitter is now just south of San Francisco.

@VideoRewind kron 4 is now bankrupt. they kept pissing off NBC so much that KNTV bought the rights.

For clarification's sake: with this countdown of NBC11 to NBC3 in San Francisco, did that also mean that KNTV also became an NBC O&O as it is today? Looked like at the time, NBC11 was operated by Granite, and they only said "NBC affiliates"... just wondering.

I love it how the graphics have an 11, but the logo has a 3. Confusing.

It looks like NBC may be moving back to KRON. KRON is now a secondary NBC affiliate when KNTV is unable to air NBC programs, mostly Giants games. If NBC goes to back to KRON full time, they'll either move Telemundo to KNTV and sell KSTS, or sell KNTV.
