Mongolian hot pot is a great party theme. Similar to fondue a large pot filled with boiling broth is surrounded by different raw meats and vegetables. Each person cooks what ever they choose in the broth. Then they can dip the meats and vegetable in various sauces as well.

  • Great video! Very good idea. Do you think a fondue set would work for this type of thing? I mean, you couldn't cook as much at one time, but I don't have the cooking piece you do, but do have a fondue set. And instead of oil or cheese you would add the chicken broth.

    Anyway, great video!

  • If it is an electric fondue pot it should work fine. If it is one with a sterno type flame underneath, then you just want to make sure that it gets and remains hot enough to maintain a simmering broth :)

  • Thankfully grandma is safe and sound.

    This dish looks great!

Have you thought about also cooking noodles in the broth too. We cook udon.

  • That is a great idea - i'll have to try that next time - Thanks for the comment :)

  • THANK YOU..... ALLOT!

for the last two days I have been looking for the freaking hotpot stuff. All my searches come up with oil fondues which I know for a fact is not an authentic hot pot. They don't use oil for the most part and boiling oil is scary..... I'm actually slightly angry at myself, I have a similar electric skillet too -_-. Also all the recipes never said what dipping sauces to use.

thanks again. all your videos are simple and easy to follow. =)
