  • The vibrato keeps the sustain going. A good player can trade careful bowing for all that vibrato and get a cleaner, truer tone, but it requires a much better ear than most people have. And yes, better steel makes all the difference; a plain ol' saw from a hardware store is gonna sound like crap no matter how excellent the player is.

  • He did that because his instrument don't have any sustain...

    He should try french musical saw called lame sonore or scie musicale , the result will be totally different for sure.
