Part 2, after jumping the display, i lost control buttons on the bottom, and had nothing except the up/down buttons, in the smallest change. I let a friend use it and the transmit and recieved just droped out, i looked inside and removed the jumper and replaced it and the radio started running transmit and recieve. So i left the jumper off for now radio work, but no display lightand no control buttons . When radio is cut on it goes to channel 9 the has to be change every time? mrbirddog101

Been real busy on this end , the reason i had to work on the turbo was the up/down buttons would run wild sometime, i fixed that problem with a little luck and superglue. Then one day wanted to just air it out , no reason just did. That's when the problem started with the display light stop working. That's when my trouble started, got it up and running but found a bad resistor on board and replaced, but still no display light, some kind a way i lost the read out , so i jumpered the display.

stresstest, i'm just running the radio for now, at least it transmit and recieve. Just have to put up with the issue/no light in display, no operation control panel/ as i described before. Thanks for the info. Talk Later, mrbirddog101
Ilike to get some led like that . where do i get them

For the display I used a pair of 5mm blue LEDs. Behind the buttons there are 6 x 3mm amber LEDs already. Desolder them and replace them with 6 x 3mm blue LEDs.
I also used 5mm white LEDs for the meters replacing the regular bulbs there. You will have to use 470-560 Ohn 1/4 watt resistors in series with the meter LEDs as they are fed @ 13.8volts. And as far as the two blue LEDs in the display, you will need to make a circuit modification on the display board and add a single resistor

You were right, i did jumper the resistors but had to stay with the same wattage for now. Now the radio is back and working, but the frequnecy counter light is out and now the board below the display will not work, but it is lit lowest mode, the rf/signal is lit low, but the channel selector still works and up and down button on microphone makes it runs frequences in smallest incaments. i'm still wondering what i'm missing, will replaceing bulbs will solve the issue? mrbirddog101

@mrbirddog101
If you lost function on the buttons below your display you have another issue that started when you took it apart to repair the resistors for the bulbs.
I use LEDs (In whatever color) to replace the display bulbs after correcting the resistors since they will continue to burn the resistors up. The LEDs draw much less current.
Recheck your work. Something is probably shorting out or worse, you may have damaged the interconnects between both boards.

@mrbirddog101 Did the radio work before you "fixed" it ? Why did you try to "fix" it if it was NOT broken? Now you have more trouble to "fix"

This radio model was plagued with a poor dimmer circuit. There is a 4 stage button control on the face for the dimmer. The circuit uses a pair of SMT switching transistors in series with a pair of 1/8 watt resistors. The way it works is at the lowest setting both resistors are hit which provides the lowest light setting, then one resistor, then the other, then bypassed all together for the highest light setting. The resistors are different in value for stage 2 and 3 on the dimmer to

have different levels. These resistors need to be changed to 1/4 watt as they are over burdened with the current needed by the incandescent bulbs used. Every one of the turbo's suffer from this. There are two routes, change to LEDS as I did or change the value of the resistors. They actually smoke and burn up over time of you don't. Was his burnt? I believe they were
