Dr. James Howell openly discusses the criticisms of the Bible accounts of Jesus' life, teachings, miracles, His death and resurrection. Why are there discrepancies? How can we know that the Bible gives a true account?

  • Well, there's only so much time! and it also seems to me something can really happen, and it is understandable in the light of earlier Scripture. Hopefully we do this in our own lives - something really happens, and I explain it, make sense of it, in light of something I recall from Isaiah or Luke.

  • On the question of when the gospels are being symbolic, doesn't it get a little more interesting when we consider the gospel stories in light of the Old Testament? Does Matthew have Joseph do everything he does in response to a dream as a symbolic allusion to the dreaming patriarch Joseph of the O.T. or is that actually how it happened? Is Luke's quite different telling of Jesus birth alluding to the Genesis birth stories literal or symbolic? The empty tomb based on Isaiah 53 or historic?
