@nasilu you still dont understand. I never said there were no advantages to it, in fact people would get pretty sick if they had no UV exposure but the amount your exposed to in solarium's and by going out tanning often simply is not healthy. Do you even understand what a tan is and why your body does it? because if you did you'd understand that a tan is your body trying to recover from damaged DNA in the skin. it's like you've been given an inch with this information and claim it's a mile.

@cynnthemanevolant If you actually want to have an informed argument with me, instead of just quoting useless information you got off your local news channel, do some research.
Why don't you read "The UV Advantage" By: Dr. Holick. He is an Endocrinologist who studies the POSITIVE effects UV has on our endocrine system and how tanning can be used to heal the body. He does his research at the Boston University Medical Center and has his PHD in BIOCHEMISTRY.
-
@cynnthemanevolant Actually I'm not the one who's ignorant. Your the one who is repeating the same information that's on the media all the time. I've actually taken the time to research this topic carefully and consider BOTH arguments, and it is my conclusion that tanning is safe and natural. Our bodies developed through centuries of evolution to convert UV into something we can use - Vitamin D. Why would our bodies evolve a mechanism like this if UV was dangerous?

@nasilu i never said only a couple of minutes. it's 10-30 minutes and i also wasn't talking about the bulbs being used although now you mention it they probably are pretty different. i was referring to the state of the person being exposed to the rays. And dude you really have to be ignorant about sunbeds if you really believe all of the crap your spilling i can guarantee you that if you were go to any dermatologist and they would tell you the same thing.
-
@cynnthemanevolant Dude, I can tell you, there is absolutely no difference in the bulbs hospitals/dermatologists use in their treatments vs tanning bulbs in tanning beds. Maybe the % ratio of UVA to UVB may be slightly different, but they both do the same thing... tan. And FYI, it takes 20 minutes of full body exposure to UV each day to receive the amount of Vitamin D you would need, not just a couple minutes out in the sun with your entire body covered up.
-
@nasilu there's a huge difference between someone who has a deficiency or skin disease and someone whose perfectly healthy and why wouldn't skin cancer research programs be funded by Skin Protection Factor manufacturers. UV exposure is good for everyone in small amounts, but not the amount of exposure from solarium's etc.
-
@cynnthemanevolant I never said or inferred that there wasn't a "difference". I was simply trying to point out that the same people who tell you not to expose yourself to UV are the same people exposing infants to it. Dermatologists us it on people with eczema, psoriasis, acne, and an entire list of other ailments. If it's so "dangerous" then why is it beneficial to so many conditions? And why are skin cancer research programs so heavily funded by SPF manufacturers?
well.. we're actually up to LGBTTQQIIAA lol.

Really happy to see you didn't stop tanning! Especially with the winter approaching, your body will be starving for Vitamin D. Don't listen to all the sun-scare victims. I know, I know, you probably still think tanning is bad even after I presented you with all the evidence from one of your previous videos, and showed you hospitals putting babies in tanning beds to cure jaundice, but it really is good for you!
I need to hit up the tanning salon soon, I'm getting disgustingly pale.

@nasilu Let's get something clear. I know tanning is not good for me, you haven't been able to change my mind and the facts you've provided were pretty lame, if i say so myself. That being said I. AM. SHALLOW. and hope that by the time I get melanoma there will be a cure! All the best and damn son, those companies really should pay you, if they don't already!

@TheMarkBoda And personally I don't think the facts I provided were lame, I presented real scientific proof and even clearly demonstrated that both hospitals and dermatologists use UV light as a therapy in their treatments. All you've done and is repeat "tanning is bad" but you haven't suggested anything that purports to prove your theory, other than what the media tells you to say. Either way Mark, I have no quarrel with you, believe me or not, I love your show ^_^

@nasilu Actualy if i recall correctly the only sientific fact you gave me was that tanning is used to cure some skin disease in hospitals on infants. Regardless i do have to apologizes for seeming hostile, i just don't think this is the place to debate the topic at hand. you probably know more about BIO stuff than most but there are people who run that industry at the moment, (much older than you) and they have for the most part not been able to rule out tanning being harmfull.
