People don't vote due to: 1.apathy, 2. they feel powerless to change their govt with their one vote. 3. they think every vote does NOT count, so theirs won't matter.

The voting system is an illusion. The people elected are hand picked by the elite running the system. No matter who one votes for they all start out with nice promises which they then break once elected. That is because everything was already pre-planned. Why are all politicians pretty much the same? It is because they are all peas from the same pod, puppets of the elite elected to carry out their nasty work! I'm not saying people should not vote but i am saying urleaders are chosen without u!

based on the last 40 years of low turnout - prove that things are any BETTER as a result.

@here4fun1 The illusion is that not voting is better than voting - but it is an illusion because not voting is all we know.

In otherwords - the politicians says "I will build a homeless shelter" - and 10% of the the city votes in the election - and the guy wins 60% of the vote - which means that only 6% of the citizens voted for him. So then when he decides NOT to build the shelter - who is there to hold him accoluntable - 6% of the city.

Not voting is dealing with the problem; the problem is a political system that makes voting, in itself, a reinforcing factor to thinking that government is, itself, the answer to social and economic problems rather than personal choices and actions. I.E. We can ignore those homeless folks on the streets so long as we voted for some guy who promised to build a new homeless shelter, etc....
