I've been meaning to team up with Joel for the longest time to do a show about Phil Ochs! Some Ochs purists might get miffed that he takes artistic licence with some of the the lyrics but hey, That's what Phil woulda done! You can catch Joel on his show "Songs of Freedom"

Now I don't know for sure, of course, but I'd guess Phil at the time may have considered it a mercy killing. Murder is murder, and judge if you must, but none of us can every really know the depth of someone else's pain.

Thanks for posting this here. Joel is fantastic and I love Checkerphil's hair.

Which got me to thinking - I can't think of anybody aside from Phil Ochs who made it all the way through the sixties without changing his hairstyle. It was always the same! I guess prophets don't worry about trendy stuff like hairstyles.

I have personally collected precious evidence on Phil Ochs, I have mailed it to any who will ask. Phil Ochs was murdered by our own Government/CIA/Secret Service. Joel Landy really does Phil Ochs justice. Joel is a true marcher on the front lines of songs of freedom. With Peoples Music Network, Joel and other singer/songwriters, poets, etc.from around the country, bringing music with social activism into their communities. Peace!

LOL! It's true. Always with that pompadour, although it got a big shaggy in the 70's. I think Phil was somewhat anti-counter culture in a way and his hair was symbolic of that.
