  • The Icom range of VHF DSC capable radios a very simple to use..Program your MMSI at start up, instructions are simple and mmsi numbers of the vessels you wish to contact for individual calls..Just the touch of a few buttons and thats it. I have a a ICM412 in my Boat connected to a Lowrance HDS7.. When you recieve a Distress Call it is automatically entered into the GPS via the NMEA interface as a WAYPOINT how easy is that..

  • Great stuff, ICOM Aust your behind the ball have a look what these guys are doing..

  • DSC only opens the squelch

any one can listen to voice without DSC

  • NO! DSC is NOT a way to exchange VOICE.

DSC is a digital signal. It ALERTS the receiving operator to the fact that he must communicate with another station using VOICE.

I HATE IT when people, who don't understand, present themselves as experts.

  • They look pretty complicated to use compared to the latest Thrane & Thrane, which of course is out of range for most consumers.

  • I wondered how the emergency button worked, can you do videos on all the other functions please?
