It's alive!
I started building this yesterday, etching the boards, winding the coils, and finished the soldering this afternoon.

Its a very simple theremin.

The sound is being picked up through the AM radio (890)on my CD player, which you can see sitting beside the theremin. The sound is then sent to my computer, where it is filtered through audiomulch (not pictured). From there, the sound is sent back out to the old-school sound system behind me, where it is all being recorded by my craptacular digital camera's movie mode.

  • hello. there are many theremin designs to be found on the internet. I would recommend the 'minimum theremin' if you are a beginner with electronics. the 'ultimate b2 theremin' (which i used as a starting point for this design) is very good for its sound quality, but the coils are really hard to make.

  • Honestly, after building this theremin, and dealing with all the interference problems inherent in a theremin, i think i'd rather build an oscillator and control it with a photo resistor and LED. much easier.

Do you have a schematic or wiring diagram for that? Please send a copy if you have. I'd love to build one! Rob
