Chain Reaction by Hank Levy

Couldn't find any good recordings of this fantastic piece on Youtube so I decided to upload this version performed by the Jazz Ambassadors of the United States Army Field Band. One of my favorite jazz pieces to play. I've never heard 13/8 groove so well.

Just heard this piece done by the Hank Levy Legacy Band in Baltimore. Haven't heard it since around when it was composed, when I was in high school! Do you have a date on the Jazz Ambassadors recording? Knew some of those guys at that time as well. Great band.

@openreels This recording is from the Jazz Ambassadors "Legacy of Hank Levy" Album. I believe it was recorded in 1997.

@drums12lax Update: Oops, I was totally wrong on the composition date. Chain Reaction goes back to at least 1972 since it's on the Don Ellis "Connections" album from that year (with the full whacky orchestration no less). The Jazz Ambassadors album was 1997 as you say. There are various versions still available from different sources.
