  • Have you actually timed your machine? There is an accessory you can get to check the # of revolutions per minute. It should be set at 160. I think you may have your 75 playing too fast.

  • You got it playing too slow. Check out my video of dixie medley playing on my 75.

  • Have you actually timed your machine? You can get an accessory that will tell you the rpm that it's spinning. It should be set at 160. I think you have your 75 playing too fast.

  • How you set it is the same way people set it 90 years ago. Take a small piece of paper and stick it between the cylinder and mandrel, sticking out the side. Get ether a clock or stopwatch. And then start it and put your finger up to the piece of paper. And the piece of paper will come around and hit your finger and you will be able to count your RPM: 1,2,3, etc. I just used the clock in the kicthen and started counting when the second hand got to 12. It is easy to do.

  • Thanks for the suggestion. The Amberola is playing at exactly 160 rpms.

  • JUST A SUGGESTION, I LEFT A COMMENT ON YOUR MACHINE LAST NIGHT, IT IS PLAYING TOO SLOW !!! THAT IS A FOUR MINUTE CYLINDER, YET THE VIDEO IS 4:48, THAT SHOULD TELL YOU THE MACHINE IS PLAYING TOO SLOW.

  • GREETINGS,

JUST WATCHED YOUR VIDEO, YOUR MACHINE IS DEFINITELY PLAYING TOO SLOW, YOU CAN ADJUST THE MACHINE SPEED WITH THE KNOB UNDER THE TOP PLATE.

  • At first, I thought that fwdstuck was right and it sounded a bit slow, but as the song progressed, it definitely sounds to me like it was recorded at the right speed.

    Great recording!
