WUTUP INTERNET, THIS YA BOY HENNESSY YOUNGMAN AKA MR. MUSEUMS. A FEW WEEKS AGO I WAS INVITED TO COME OUT TO CHICAGO TO THE MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART TO THE DIALOGUE TO DO MY FIRST EVER LIVE ART THOUGHTZ. OF COURSE MY MIND WAS BLOWED BY THIS PROPOSITION AS I DON'T REALLY FUCKS WITH REAL LIVE PEOPLES, MY ALCOVE IS MY THRONE, CASTLE, AND STUDIO APT, ALL ROLLED INTO ONE SO WHY PRESENT MYSELF BEFORE THE MASSES? WELL, THE MONEY WAS RIGHT SO I WAS LIKE "FUCKIT", I NEED A NEW CHAIN BADLY. BUT IM DIGRESSING LIKE MOTHERFUCKER, THE TOPIC OF THE DIALOGUE WAS ABOUT MILLENNIALS, PEOPLE BORN BETWEEN 1980-90ish, AND HOW MUSEUMS CAN RISE TO THE CHALLENGE OF GETTING THAT MILLENNIAL MON... I MEAN GETTING THAT MILLENNIAL PARTICIPATION, I THINK. ON THE REAL THO, I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT MILLENNIALS OTHER THAN MILLENNIAL SHAWTIES BE LOOKING MAD CUTE IN THEY AMERICAN APPAREL TIGHTS. IS THAT ENOUGH KNOWLEDGE TO SPEAK AT A MUSEUM? IN 2011 IT IS! LET'S GO!!!!!!!
ALSO BIG SHOUT TO MY SWEETIE MICHELLE T. BOONE, AND MY BOO NAOMI BECKWITH, A CURATOR PAR EXCELLANCE´, BOSSLADY MADELEINE GRYNSZTEJN, AND THE REST OF THE MCA STAFF FOR LETTING ME TAKE HOME A MARK BRADFORD PAINTING FOR FREE.

I get your point that levity can be an effective tool to expose and promote an idea.
My point is that "artmaking" is now perceived as an activity practiced by the inmates of an asylum. From people like Meese to a gaggle of idiosyncratic wanna-be geniuses. I think that people listening to his "Rap-like" dissertations re-inforce the banality of genius creating our failed culture. I appreciate his insight but find the delivery predictable and even conformist. Hope that helps.

I'm noticing that you project your anti-spectacle bias onto his particular approach to performance, and liken "clowning" to immaturity. As someone who is a fan of humorous spectacle as a vehicle for illuminating profound insights, I say keep doing what you're doing Mr. Youngman! You are the Pryor/Carlin/Chappelle of the art world. You come from an awesome lineage.

The odd thing for me is that i hear some kind of insight hidden behind a spectacle of clowness. Trying to seduce a generation of bubble-heads to listen to insight in an institution of conformity is a paradox or even an oxymoron. For sure Moron. I like your stuff - i think? - but no need to be a clown with this shit. grow up! I think U have someting.
best to you.

I get what you're saying, but feel that you're missing something important- The internet is not just a place to draw inspiration from in order to create a new type of museum. It -is- the new type of museum/gallery/show. You can see it on sites like deviantart/concpetart/tumblr where people create content, respond to it, and network with each other.
Then, you have something like "alt lit" which outright designates things like youtube comments/tweets/image macros as poetry.

what was that ending video of one man show hennesy? i didn't get that.. and just one of my conflicts is... kanye and jay-z... commercial hiphip artists who, in my opinion, don't really help changing the social inequity of our society, you seem to like them? i'm just curious what your opinion is. maybe there is something i haven't thought about in terms of how they actually could be empowering people instead of stupid music industry such as mtv and bet, that try to brainwash millennials and after

Couple of questions:
Do you wild out when invited to speak at a school? Do you go all Bukowski on the co-eds and faculty sippin' from a bottle of the brown and sticking your thumb in they tender freckled culos?
Are there internet groupies? Do internet groupies skin out for real or is it that "cyber sex" they write about?
When is your next NY event? We can sip on the Hendog, smoke newports and spit the knowledge before the thing.
I'm out.
