Hi Ken, firstly tanks a lot for a brilliant tutorial on Reaper, certainly suffice to for me to make my mind up and buy.
But please ken why can't I get the external editor to work when I double/click on my wave form..??. All I keep getting up is the 'Media Item Properties' box.
I have included my 'Audition 3' as the external editor, I would dearly love this to be able to work, can you help me pleas or anyone else for that matter
Kind Regards
Alan

Hello, I just added audacity as my editor like you did, but when I double click the waveform it pulls up a pop up that says "Media item properties" with a description of the file like take properties snap offset etc.. Any idea why? Thanks for your help!

@megalodonNL no worries. I was just lost in frustration of what I wanted to get or use. Too many DAW's to pick from. The best advice I've seen online is "pick a daw and stick with it!". And Reaper was my choice.

@megalodonNL Great advice! You are one smart guy!

Hi Jason. That actually changed in version 4! Sorry about that. Try Ctrl+Alt+E now instead.

@luis6137 Double check to see if there is a check mark in the Render (is that what you're doing when you say export?) screen that is trying to insert the rendered result into your project.

I just got a Tascam US-800 the other day. I installed cubase le5 the program that it came with. I'm still contemplating on using cubase or getting this?

@mixolydian671 I can tell you that there are a BUNCH of former Cubase users in the Reaper forum:).

Thanks for the demo. I really like cockos' vision, and I've been pretty dissatisfied with Sonar X1 essential. There's so many awesome features in the expensive versions, but I simply can't afford them. I like the Idea of paying $60 and getting the full package. I don't really understand why you switch to audacity to do the editing though. Are those features not included in reaper?

@Rickles Great question, and I have since changed my mind about needing an external editor with Reaper. You're right. You can do most of the things most folks need to do as far as editing right in Reaper. I've just got such a long history of touching up the finished product in an external editor (I actually use Adobe Audition) that doing it in the DAW feels funny to me. And I still think that there are certain things some folks, especially musicians, will want to do in an editor.
