For our History of Chemistry project, we had to recreate any experiment of our choice. Since we had access to a plane, and since Nicole's dad is a pilot, we decided to recreate Joseph Louis Gay-Lussac's experiment of discovering the atmosphere's content by going up in a hot air balloon. Although a little more modern than the original experiment, our results remained consistent with his results. Our data shows that altitude does not affect the atmosphere's composition. This video depicts our entire experiment.
And a huge thank you to Mr. Swyers for allowing us to use his Aeronca for the experiment.
