My husband and his brother both joined the Marines in l954. Both have
passed away. There is no doubt in my mind they are Marines in
heaven. A beautiful song. Thanks for posting.

This brings back a lot of good memories for me. I can remember my mother singing this when she came home on leave from the A T S she was an Ambulance driver and she I was staying with my aunt Margaret until the evacuation started Then I was evacuated until the end of the war Dad was in the Army

You can read into it whatever comes to your mind. I'm not saying that their thoughts are anything but trying to do their duty and that they are obviously willing. I think its important to be supportive of our troops, they are our peeps. But not to forget what the sacrifice really means and that it shouldn't be done for ego.

This is one of my favorite songs and yet I never heard this Peggy Lee version before. Very poignant. I especially like the way she ends it with a different note. It made my day.
