In this video tutorial I teach 3 guys how to sew up a Picnic Placemat! This is a great beginner project and is easy to whip up! The guys made these in less than an hour and they have never sewn before! If you ever thought you couldn't sew... this is the project for you to try! Trust me.. you can do it!

Please vote for the guys' picnic placemats in the comments below and let me know who you think should be awarded the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize based on the picnic placemats they made!

Thank you to everyone at The City Quilter quilt shop in NYC!!

  • I made it!! It was my first sewing project ever. It turned out great! Thank you so much :)

  • @ladytronnn729 Yay! Go you!! Glad I could help get you started. :o)

  • I think I wanna give this as a gift for my friend that has a baby for her diaper bag so she can feed him wherever and carry his baby utensils. but I do have a question. will the ribbon unravel when you wash it? is that a special ribbon you use?

  • @ERIKA802 Sounds like a great idea! The only parts of the ribbon that will unravel are the ends. SInce one end is inside the placemat you don't have to worry about it. All you have to do is either burn or seal the end that will be exposed on the other end of the ribbon. If you use a polyester ribbon you can quickly run a lighter across the tip and it will melt and fuse the fibers on the end and will keep it from fraying. There is also a product called Fray Check you can use.

  • @TheCraftyGemini thank you so much. love your projects!

  • @ERIKA802 No problem! Glad to help! :o)
