I tried to find comparisons between the confusion of dyscalculia and other acedemic activities.

They are taken from personal experience and don't necessarily reflect other's ideas.
I just wanted to put it out there, I would appreciate any feedback you might have. (no harsh comments though please).

Sorry if it makes no sense whatsoever, it was a spur of the moment, rush-type video.

  • I have recently found out about this (dyscalculia) and the more I hear and read the weirder it is. Its kinda opening some doors, allowing me to realize why I may have such a problem with math and numbers. I do have a question, you mentioned phone numbers (as you said that I also realized I cannot tell anyone MY cell phone number I've had for 6 years) do you ever have an issue with something like a social security number? Or something close to it?

  • @RezRagnarok in answer to your question, once I stamp a code into my brain it usually is there forever but I will still forget it or completely mess it up sometimes. Like walking up to a cash point and totally forgetting my pin number or the right order. I have reminders written everywhere. (Thank god for mobiles, I'd be lost without it.) What I tend to do now is just remember the pattern I have to make on the pad rather than relying on my number recollection alone. Does that help?

  • When you started talking about the code breaker and how it worked, not to be rude at all, but I completely unintentially tuned out at the description of it until about 2:12 when I re-tuned my attention and realised i'd just unwillingly done the exact same thing that my brain did if I was in a maths class..and I cried a bit when you continued to describe what it's like. Just recently I've discovered this is an actual condition after years of struggling and I'm now looking into getting assessed.

  • @aimray12 No I totally understand that you tuned out, not offended. I'm hope it helped to listen to and not just made you sad. Good luck being assessed :)

  • Noo, don't delete it. What about posting more? cause this really help me and really understand what i am going through and really felt that someone understands what your going through... and i really admire that you share your experiences with others. Your comparison about the foreign language and math.

    Sorry, babbling again. :))

  • Lol, Babble..

No I no but it doesn't make much sense does it. I might redo it... In time.

I don't really no what else to make either, suggestions? :)

  • i have it. I was diagnosed with it in 7th grade. I hate having a math disablility. I sucks! Math class is just hell. Im in alegebra 2 and i just want to break down and cry in that class. More ppl should know about this disorder.

  • I always got the code things completly wrong.

  • @DashingKardashianTV That's not it....

  • I'm really starting to think I have Dyscalculia but I can add, sub, multiply and divide on paper, not in my head but i can do it at a decent rate on paper, with adding and subbing it's easy on papaer but dividing and multiplying not so much because i don't know my multiplication tables, so maybe I don't have it?? I have a A in everything but a huge F in math

Yeah, the only reason I can remember my debit card number is because it comes from a video game I use to play all the time. I get what you mean about the patterns though, I use them for basic math things. Basically using more visual reminders like: "if I have four apples and take away two how many do i have" I can always visualize the apples more than I visualize the numbers. Strange isn't it? :)

  • I really think i have Dyscalculia, i have read about all the small and big symptoms of it. I almost have them all!, i want to get my self tested. i currently work at a store and giving someone chance is veeeerry hard for me, it takes so long for me to figur out 50 minus 13,95. in the mean time i am practising alot in the hope of becoming better =(
