Kira Seamon's Choreography: Magic Worm

Choreographed by Kira Seamon and performed by Carina, Rachel and others at the Choreographic Conference in June of 2009. This was a choreographic exercise based on 3 assigned words. My words were: slither, angularity and intricate. (Other restrictions applied. The exercise sought to challenge the choreographer to bring maximum creativity to minimal starting material.) Highly popular piece includes live piano accompaniment by the Music Director.

I am continually amazed at my dancers' musicality! I actually was assigned to choreograph this in silence and then improvisational piano accompaniment would be added during the performance...This means that the dancers never got to practice once with this music and the first time they heard it was during the above performance. I was super proud of them while I watched them dance, as they are literally exactly in time with the music ! Great job, girls :)
