I know 'yall in 'merica use pounds, feet, yards and all that.

BUT the rest of the world has a great thing called 'the metric system' perhaps you could consider helping the transition to sanity by using regular units of measurement in your stories.

No, I'm defending the imperial system because I don't believe anything should be switched due to the will of those not involved.

    It's inefficient, and generally stupid.

Based on outdated measurement systems involving grain.

However: some people are used to it, and should switch for efficiency, rather than merely the convenience of others.

It's not for the end result, but for the rationalizing reason behind it that I am arguing.

but it IS a good reason in this case. it has nothing t do with social acceptance. no one is saying "America is still using imperial cos they are not cool".

    1. metric generally has better functionality as it is based on 10.

    2. metric has better universality as the rest of the world uses it. information can be understood more widely than with imperial. so in this case it is definitely a good reason to follow the majority. youre just defending imperial because its so murrican. nothing else.

    It's regular for that person.

You can't decide for them, if they feel like eating that, rather than what you're eating, you have no right to tell them to stop if they're not affecting your rights.

Neither SHOULD they switch, simply because everyone else does, that leads to people only making actions when they're socially acceptable.

I'm not arguing that metric wouldn't be good, I'm arguing that merely because everyone else does something, doesn't mean someone else should follow suit.

"many other countries than the U.S."?

    you mean 2 other countries?

the transition to metric makes perfect sense, it is based on 10 and the rest of the world all accepted this a long time ago.

if every person in the world eats pizzas except for one, that one eats hamburgers, does that make hamburgers regular? nope.

this just creates a divide to be overcome.

    That's an ignorant statement.

Many countries other than the U.S. use the imperial system.

While I am attempting to fully transition to metric, my previous comment was merely pointing out, that while metric may be "Regular" for them, "Regular" is only a point of perspective.

While those born in countries that use the imperial system would see theirs as the "Regular".

nope, the rest of the world uses metric. the rest of the world is bigger than america. it is more common/ universal so converting to metric makes perfect sense while everyone else converting to "'murrica regular" is stupid.

We're too stubborn to be logical. That's why we're americans! ;) Measurements with a 10-unit base...what??! I'll stick to my irregular measurement usage, thank you kindly.
