Play it Through - Castle of Illusion Part 1

Hey everyone on this episode of Play it Through its Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse for the Sega Genesis or Mega Drive. Castle of Illusion has us playing as Mickey on a quest to save Minnie from the evil witch Mizrabel. Mickey must collect seven gems in order to enter her tower and save Minnie. Castle of Illusion is one of my all time favorite games for the Genesis or any system for that matter. The graphics for their time were really beautiful to look at especially the cookie world :). While Capcom may have been the best to create Disney games Sega was not far behind and the illusion games are some of the best platformers on Sega's various platforms. Enjoy!!

Ah so this is the game from the Illusion series that has 3 different versions to it then? MS, MD & GG.

When I was a kid, I would always defeat every boss using only the butt stomp.

Mickey may move slowly for some people...furthering my earlier point about localisation, he moves 1/6 slower in the PAL format..everything did =S

Always loved the boss music though XD

Also, I like the Sonic 1 style moving blocks at 9:45

Good lord the PAL localisation was terrible...

Seeing this in the proper American format of 60Hz makes me realise how out of sync the music was. Whenever I played it as a kid, the music was finished before the title fully came up.

This and Sonic 3 were the most memorable games from my childhood.

Hard mode is Crazy, but there is no reward for beating it on Hard mode ;( Sucks because you will kill yourself trying to beat this on Hard Mode. This is a great high Variety game. When it came out, I felt like I was playing a Mickey Mouse Arcade Game, back when that meant something.

I love the music in this game. Only problem is some of the tracks have a really annoying "sound channel" in them which spoils the song. Thanks to the chiptune format for Sega Genesis though, I can mute those bad channels before converting to mp3.

Thanks for the run Cornshaq. I would have probably missed this game otherwise.
