it had all the elements to make it the perfect ruckus RADventure: camping, long stretches of open road, the grandeur of unspoiled natural scenery, and Las Vegas.
it totally lived up to all my expectations and then some. a mini getaway life-changer mission. seeing the world in an open cockpit going 35 mph is the shits. sorta made me feel like a cowboy riding my trusty steed out in the wild west. yee-haw!

started out in the SGV and headed up to pasadena. kept going west along the foothill till we reached la canada. we took the 2, which basically goes thru the angeles forest and spits you out in palmdale / lancaster area. this is where we made our last run of big supplies at walmart. continued north on the 14 till we got to red rock canyon state park which is where we camped out the first night. spot is so sick and its the place where they filmed lots of jurrasic park. we ate crappy canned food, chewed on some beef jerkey, and drank sapporos till we fell asleep that night.

got up early the next morn and packed up all our gear. jumped back onto the 14 and went thru some small towns and gassed up in Trona. thats where i switched out my memory card (which i eventually lost somewhere along the trip). i fit the rest of the trip on my last 2gig sd card. this video and it's counterpart 2 were squeezed out of the remaining sd card. peep the RUCKUS LIFE.

  • How come they stopped making these. I just found your videos and the things seem great! I know you aren't going to be taking them on the interstate but still looks like a fun ride. Great videos really enjoyed them.

  • just haven't had enough time lately to go on more adventures and make more vids... fools got day jobs, the economy sucks ass, everyone has fucked up responsibilities.... blah blah blah. we're planning another death valley mission in spring... stay tuned.

  • BTW: You know how I could get out to Death Valley or the desert in general from L.A.? The Ruckus is too slow for the highway, I'm assuming, so I couldn't just take the 10 or what have you.

  • take the angeles forest highway. you can catch it from la canada (just west of pasadena) and head north. follow it for a while and it will spit you out into palmdale. from there you can go check mojave, death valley, or even go to sequoia. lots of rad little small towns and really nice open roads. go spark a mission, you'll thank me for it.

  • How did you take this thing to vegas? I love these! Can you use these on the freeway from Las Angeles all the way there?

  • What ancient, vintage 2008 technology did you use to minimize camera shake so well? I'm going to use a Kodak Zi8 on a Pedco Ultraclamp on my upcoming scooter desert trip. I can't yet afford a GoPro.

Great video, editing, and music. I imagine you're all bowling and mowing your lawns these days.
