when i drag and drop the AVCHD file into the Sony vegas pro 8 timeline,, it doesnt do anything and lags up. Im not sure if it can read those types of files....What do i do?

If you would like to but I don't want to take any of your time. Others could use the information too. The camera slo motion is very good in the sr's I think they use 240 frames per soecond instead of 30.

How long does the battery last for the Hdr-Sr12? or SR11?

the included battery, recording in HD, using the hardrive is about 90 minutes, but if you buy the recomended accesory kit, including a case and battery, that battery last 150 minutes.

one more question, how do i make the MTS file into a MPEG file?

Well if by "MTS" you mean AVCHD, the best way to convert it is to open your video in a Video Editor that supports AVCHD (like Sony Vegas) and export in MPEG4.
