The third expansion for the number one rated mmo World of Warcraft has been announced! The expansion will be called Cataclysm (if that wasn't clear enough in the title) and will contain more contents that the other expansions, The burning Crusade, and Wrath of the Lich King.

"While the attention of the Horde and Alliance remained fixed upon Northrend, an ancient evil lies dormant within Deepholm, the domain of earth in the Elemental Plane. Hidden away in a secluded sanctuary, the corrupted Dragon Aspect Deathwing has waited, recovering from the wounds of his last battle against Azeroth and biding his time until he can reforge the world in molten fire. Soon, Deathwing the Destroyer will return to Azeroth, and his eruption from Deepholm will sunder the world, leaving a festering wound across the continents. As the Horde and Alliance race to the epicenter of the cataclysm, the kingdoms of Azeroth will witness seismic shifts in power, the kindling of a war of the elements, and the emergence of unlikely heroes who will rise up to protect their scarred and broken world from utter devastation. The face of Azeroth is altered forever as the destruction left in Deathwing's wake reshapes the land and reveals secrets long sealed away. Players will be able to re-experience familiar zones across Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms, rewrought by the cataclysm and filled with new opportunities for adventure."

The expansion will not include a hero class as Wrath of the lich king did, but it contains many more features:
- Barrens is split in two. Darkshore is flooded.
- New zones: Uldum, Grim Batol, the Sunken City of Vashj'ir.
- "More raid content" than previous expansions
- A new "Wintergrasp-like zone" called Tol Barad
- Archaeology, the new secondary profession, lets you "unearth valuable artifacts and earn unique rewards"
- The new starting zones will be heavily phased, and will be similar to the DK starting zones
- Azshara is now a low-level Horde zone connected directly to Orgrimar
- More character customization and improvement with the path of the titans
- Level cap raised to 85
- New guild content and feature, such as guild levels and achievements
- New quests
- Old world zones revamped (classic zones hit by cataclysm)
- Tons of new leveling content
- Flying mounts in Azeroth
- Goblin race for the Horde, Worgen race for the Alliance
- New class/race combinations
- Heroic classic dungeons (YES, HEROIC DEADMINES!)
- New battlegrounds with rated content
- Much much more...
