I agree that Caruso's rendition of this song was wonderful, but in this recording, Jussi Bjorling teaches all modern day singers, including Italians, just how to perform it. Bravo!

Björling did not trye to sound like an Italian. Instead he challanged them! The rest of the world gave him the Thumb up for that. Here we see why!

Well done & nicely sung; merita a sound "bravo". BUT not Italian! Give me Caruso & Lanza.

Very beautiful. Bjorling always performs extremely well.Great quality of voice and excellent vocal line. I always find it interesting how different great voices like Caruso&Lanza in this selection sing the same song.

@meltzerboy Concordo! Uno dei pochi tenori che rimarrà, indelebile, nel mio cuore.

In my opinion, caruso's recording of "L'Alba..." is one of, if not the greatest achievement in his canon. At the risk of overstating the case, I rank it on a par with Michelangelo's "David" in that Caruso realizes an expression of "the heroic" so absolute as to define this quality of the human spirit for all time. Bjoerling's performance, beautiffuly sung, with great passion and intensity of purpose is magnificent.on it's own terms.

Absolutely brilliant performance of this song. He did so many things so well all the time on so many arias and songs.

Jussi also clears his throat, imperceptibly, but audibly, on his first Nessun Dorma recording.
This is above and beyond excellence. Thank you.

Of course, Caruso's recording of the Tosti song is overwhelming, especially in the final phrases. But Bjorling's voice has its own special appeal. The pure tone, superb technique, and highly artistic phrasing are wonderful.
