On July 7, 2010, Eurasian Three-toed Woodpecker in Kamchatka was taken with Canon Digital Camera 7D + IS 800mm F5.6. A female warbles between a squab.
Recent research suggests that the American and Eurasian forms should be split as separate species. It is thought that the subspecies of Kamchatka are extremely similar to subspecies of Hokkaido Japan. The lastest observatory of this bird in Hokkaido was only hearing the song of female in 1988. The breeding was confirmed more than 50 years ago. It seems that we lost this bird in Hokkaido Japan.
