There are 3 versions of this song, in this version it seems the woman falls into the hopelessness. In the Lillywhite version she is given hope, and in another version she decides she has to get the power herself to save herself. I don't know which order the songs were released, but all 3 versions tell a slightly different story, or perhaps one part of the entire story and each of the 3 songs have different lyrics from each other.

After reading your post and watching the footage for a second time I most certainly recognize the venue; it's The Gorge Amphitheater in the town of George, Washington.
It's 7 hours drive from my house in Oregon. I've been there a couple times for Rush.
Wikipedia's discography on DMB cites a live album from 2004 for The Gorge. This is a really good version,,,very emotionally charged. Hope that helps ya.
